Default Differences between 22" and 24" monitors?

I've been trying to decide whether to get a pair of 22" or 24" monitors and have some questions.

The 22" and 24" monitors that I've been looking at both have the same resolution of 1920x1080. So while the 24" monitor is several inches bigger, would it be accurate to say that the 24" one has no more "screen real estate" than the 22" one? (i.e. that the same amount of content will be displayed on both screens, and that the 24" one will just display the content bigger?)

Is the screen clarity on the 22" one going to be better since it has a lower dot pitch?

Will I need to have the 24" display farther back than the 22" would be?

I would appreciate being informed of any other considerations between the two as well.

Appreciate your advice!

The difference is just that... 2"

1080p resolution is the same dot resolution on any size monitor or TV. But the larger the monitor/TV with the same resolution, the more the pixels are spread out, causing it to not appear as 'sharp'. That being said, you won't see any quality loss on screens that small, so I'd say go for the 24" provided it's a good quality monitor. You'll see the same display, just on a larger screen.

Hi Signal2Noise,

I started a new thread because I felt it was a different topic. In the last thread I was pondering whether I should get two 22" monitors or one 24" monitor. After looking at some 24" monitors at a store today I think I could fit two of them on my desk, so now I'm trying to learn the differences between a 22" and 24" monitor so that I can decide which pair to get.

I felt like it was a different subject; maybe I should have kept it in the same thread, though..

I guess you really would be the one to ask for my question, about the content being displayed bigger on the 24" display, since you own both sizes.. Do you find the text too hard to read on the 24" one because it's too large? That's my greatest concern right now.

I found a dell coupon for the ST2410 TN panel display that makes it $180, and the 22" version is $140, so there really isn't much of a difference in price.

Thanks for your help.

Text is fine on a 24". I do not recall anyone lately downsizing a monitor because it is too big. Just go buy the darn 24", you will like it. If you do not like it, report back so that you can be the first one I have heard of that does not like a larger monitor.
