Recommend me a good 24" or bigger display

I agree that if you get one from Dell they do have good service if something does go wrong. Plus don't forget that they cross ship which most companies don't. (not totally sure about Samsung)

If you have an issue with one just let them know that it shows the problem when attached to another system and during its self check. They will ship you a new one right away. Now sending it in to get fixed like I know we have had to do with some Samsung monitors at work.

That said though, you will be happy with Samung or Dell.

The Dell U2410 is on sale again for 499 maybe have another look at it.

But I'd have a serious look at the Samsung recommended earlier in the thread. It's comparable with the Dell in many respects and has a faster refresh rate 5ms vice 6ms. Ideally for video games I'd try to find something in the 2ms range for refresh rate since in theroy it will handle the fast motion on the screen better. I'm not an expert on monitors but it makes sense to me. Faster, Bigger, Better isn't that what being a computer enthusiast is all about?

The samsung is only a NT panel so the colours won't be as good. I love my current samsungs and if the one recommended above was a better panel then I would have bought it. Instead, I have bought the Dell 24" ultrasharp (U2410) that is on sale today! Thanks for the tip!

I HATE how people diss the TN panels.

The TN panels are PERFECTLY FINE. Sheesh!!!!!!!!!!

TN are fine, I totally agree. I am currently using one as my main monitor. However, next to my PVA panel you can certainly tell the difference in colours. TN make great main-stream monitors and if I wasn't looking for a bigger monitor I probably would have stuck with mine.

Got the Dell yesterday. What a great monitor! Colours are crisp and deep and brightness is great. The stand is pretty good as well (but I may wall mount it). I only had a chance to play some Dragon Age on it and I couldn't be happier! I will try some FPS tonight to see how it does.

Got a chance to play L4D2 last night finally. No signs of ghosting or input lag at all. Game was nice and smooth and looked beautiful. Can't wait to try something more demanding with better graphics like Batman Arkam Asylum or Farcry 2.

What size did you end up getting? I have the Dell 3008 and I absolutely love it.There are some in this Forum that may have had a bad experience with Dell,but I gotta tell you,if you and others on this site knew what Dell has done for me,you would have a bird.Sure,I have had the odd bad experience with thier tech.people but I found that if you treat them like Human Beings[and they are] as well as bear with any language issues,they will truly resolve your problems to your total satisfaction.After all, that's what they [Dell] promised to do in the warranty. I for one will continue to do business with Dell.
