Default 27 inch LCD at 2560x1600 ?

Hi guys,

First I just want to say that this is a great place, I've learned a lot already from my brief time posting here. I just wanted to ask you guys a question as another poster made the suggestion and I wanted to verify if this is true.

Do you get 27 inch monitors that allow for 2560x1600 resolution ? I'm looking to upgrade my monitor which is a 22 inch Samsung 2233. I mean, I went from a 17 inch originally to a 22 inch which is/was a major leap. But I'm wanting more screen area now plus that illusive resolution.

I guess if I leave AA altogether I can play games at 2560 res and I'm sure will look amazing. So guys, any monitors you know of in the 27 inch size with that resolution ? If so, please let me know which units you would recommend.

Again, thanks very much.

Regards,

An Apple 27" iMac has a resolution of 2560x1440. This currently is your only choice for a 27" display w/ that resolution. Although displays should be coming out in the new short while that will be using the same panel. But they are 2560x1440, not 2560x1600. I also highly doubt you'll ever see a 2460x1440. 16:10 production has decreased significantly and 16:9 has taken over.

I would like a stand alone monitor. If not 27 inch, what other sizes are available without splashing for 30 inch ?

Regards,
Unless you can settle for 1920x1200 or 2048 x 1152 display you aren't going to find any high resolution displays that are really affordable.

I haven't seen resolutions of 2048x1152. Do games support that resolution ? What size monitors would give such a resolution ? Thanks for your advice.

Technically games should support any 16:9 resolution (assuming they have widescreen support). It's just merely scaling it some more.

I have the samsung 2343bwx+ with the 2048x1153 res and its awesome for games, its 16:9 juts like 1080p and i have never had any trouble with any games. I recommend it, its cheap too. Also acer sells a 27" with the 2058x1152 res if you wanted bigger screen.

Yeah, I have that weird resolution monitor as well (Samsung 2343BWX, 2048x1152) and games are amazing on it. Games ranging from Counter Strike: Source to Battlefield Bad Company 2 all supported my resolution, some even auto picked it.
