Default Need help with choosing a monitor

Hey all,

I recently got myself a new computer that I built with the help from people on these boards. That was about 4-5 months ago. I recently realized that I need a new monitor but not sure what to get.

I'd like something that is at least 22 inch or possibly 24. I would think 24 might be to big so I'd like to know what you all think is better to get.

Now I like to play games on my computer so I would guess I need a monitor with 5 or less ms, also I'm not sure if this is possible but is there any monitors that has a display like the new iMacs? my friend recently got one and the color looked really sharp (def a lot better then my current 19 inch monitor)

I don't want to spend to much on a monitor I was thinking no more then $300 canadian (unless there is a monitor that you all recommend thats to good to pass up but costs over 300)

thanks in advance

I'd recommend an IPS type panel. Within your budget, usage, response time, and size criteria, your best option is probably the Dell 2209WA which is a 22" and uses e-ips. It has very low input lag and has fast response time so it suits your usage needs. It's currently on sale for less than $250 shipped from Dell I think. Either way, it's on sale regularly.

how much of a diff is it to go from a 1680 x 1050 resolution to the 1920x1080? I was kinda looking to get a 1920x1080

I guess a better question is will the 1680 x 1050 using e-ips be a lot better then a 1920x1080 using a TN display

I was looking at this one:
DELL G2410 24 inch Wide Green Flat Panel Monitor : Computer Components | Dell Canada

24 inch monitor, 1920x1080 TN panel

anyone have any insight on this? I would use this monitor basically (40% on web browsing/working with text/programming, 50% gaming, 10% watching movies)

If youre not planning on looking at the monitor from odd angles and don't care much for 100%-or-whatever accurate color representation then IMHO you don't need an IPS panel type. A lower response time good quality TN panel will work just fine, and have less ghosting than a PVA or IPS panel as well, since afaik, their best response times are in the 8 to 12ms range (as opposed to 2ms for a good quality TN panel).
