Default Need advice from TV experts.

I currently have a Samsung 50" DLP tv that I'm looking to upgrade. I don't really care if it's LCD or Plasma. I'm looking to get something around 58" that has HDMI 1.3, THX, and at least 120hz. I'd also rather not break the bank.....basically the best bang for you buck. I was thinking about the new LG 60" 60PS11 (around $2499)but it doesn't get the best reviews. At least it's in my price range though. Alternately the is the LG 60PG60 that although it's a year old has some great features and can be found for a good price here.. Home

What does everyone recommend? I'd definitely like to keep it for a number of years. I just bought the new Oppo BDP-83 and would like to match it up with something that can take advantage of it.

Thanks

In my experience, LCD screens above 55" are usually of poor quality.

If I were you, I would seriously look at the Samusng LN55B640. It is a great set with a ton of connectivity and sports most of the features the slightly higher-end LN55B650 sports. The contrast is also one of the best on the market right now. So much so that it beats the pants off the new XBRs in my opinion.

If you are willing to go with a slightly smaller screen, I would go for the Samsung LN52B750. Many regard it as one of the best sub-$3500 TVs on the market today.

Thanks Skymtl, I'll definitely take that under consideration. It's a tad smaller than I wanted to go, mostly because I need as much justification as I can muster for buying a new tv :) I can't see to find out whether it's HDMI 1.3 or not, do you know for sure?

Crazyhorsejohnny, I try to have my room as dark as possible so that's why I was thinking of going Plasma but not dead set on it.

Thanks

I think if your room is dark go with a samsung lcd, they have the glass in frunt of there panel which makes the picture more vibrant i think.

But since your not gamin on it the plazma's are much cheaper, but they use twice the power of an lcd, and give off alot more heat.

When i bought all our lcd's i went and looked at them alot and did lots of pro's/con's of what i needed in our lcd's.
