Yeah dude, I've felt the same way about certain things that I bought in the past.

But you have every right to demand a perfect set, especially if there's a freakin dent in it lol. If I was in your situation and I thought about how many hours I worked to pay for one of those I'd lose sleep, knowing that the product I received wasn't perfect.

Even if the warranty doesn't cover dark pixels, you can still return it for the shipping damage :D.

I'd be sending it back, as a dent is not acceptable.

I'll bet that you will be happy with your decision. A bit of patience will probably get you the perfect monitor.

I did some magnifying work and figured those aren't necessarily dead pixels, but a dirt stuck between panel layers, never saw that kind of defects, can't be cleaned:

damn, that dell 3008wfp is a damn impressive sounding monitor....if i had the money for a 30" monitor, that'd be my only choice, hands down.

ps, i'd get that dent replaced(the pixels don't bother ME personally). the shipping will take a week or two(if that), the dent will be there forever...

Hm.. dent doesn't bother me at all, I'm more psyched about pixels, but based on your reactions I probably shouldn't. The thing is, I imported it from US from non-Dell for at least half the price (NIB), so it will take me more trouble to ship it back and forth and there's a risk of shipping damage involved. I feel like just keeping it, unless Dell Canada works with US purchased items.

I think it is unacceptable that Dell makes such big claims and for that price that the colors are that much incorrect out of the box - Even after caliabtion they are off - I do agree with you, I could have warned you in advance, disappointing for a non-TN panel. There is one model of HP I forget which one, that is said to be better than the Dell by a lot, in terms of color accuracy.

Sent it back for replacement. The box I got was pretty beat up, so I had to reinforce it with layers of cardboard inside, air pillows, duct tape and Fragile sign, don't wanna be responsible for $1k+ item:
