I really think you should go to a store and take a look at them and ask if you can play around with the settings. It's hard to justify a TV based on what other people think.

I wouldn't even consider the LG, look at the Samsung and Sharp. Its really a toss up between the two, just go in store and play around with them, see which one you like better.

If it comes down to it, just close your eyes and pick, you can't really go wrong with either or.

I do consider myself a "TV Guru"...hell I've got 7 of the damn things in my house...yes 7 (thats what happens when you get hitched at 40+ yrs old)...anyhow, I'm always checking out deals, Costco is a great place for a flatscreen TV purchase imo...great selection and lowest prices!!

I picked up a Sharp LC46D64U from FS last year at its getting-phased-out price (~1100+tx iirc). Absolutely no complaints with it. I use it for gaming/Blu-ray with the PS3, and as an external display for my Macbook when watching anything in a Matroska container. Great picture for the price. I have noticed a bit of ghosting when playing games like Mirror's Edge on it though (bright colours on white background), but I imagine that's largely unavoidable with current LCD technology.

My roommates are using Samsung LCD monitors (T240), and if that's any indication of the quality of Samsung LCD TVs I would have no hesitation in going with Samsung either. From what I hear, Sony's Bravia line are also major contenders in the LCD market, but given the brand name, they likely carry a price premium over a comparable Sharp or Sammy panel.
