Question Widescreen or not?for od comp

Hey guys, my old computer have a nvidia 5200fx vid card and it surely doesnt support widescreen.Max is 1280x1024.
What will happen if I connect it to a widescreen 19inch monitor?

The FX5200 supports widescreen. My parents are running a 17" Sharp widescreen monitor (1280x768) off of theirs.

I wouldn't imagine 1440x900 (19" WS) would be a problem for the FX5200, but I don't know for sure.

the fx5200 should support resolutions up to 2048x1536 including most wide screen resolutions below that as well.

Im sorry guys, I really thought it was an old vid card so it didnt supported widescreen.
But when I go to the display property to set up the resolution, the max there is 1280x1024. Why is that??
Is it because the monitor only support that as max and when I get a new 19inch monitor more options will show up...?
Im getting so confused.

It won't display resolutions that the monitor doesn't support ...

there is a checkbox option under advanced properties, monitor to display all adapter supported modes including the ones not supported by your current monitor.
