Default Best LCD Tv for around 1000

My girlfriend and I are looking to get an lcd tv for our living room and the budget is around 1000... new or used I don't really care as long as the used model has a good longevity and won't be dying on me soon

however, I'm not up to date at all on whats the latest and greatest bang for buck

1080p is NOT a requirement due to the distance the TV will be watched at

it has to have a nice base which will allow it to swivel (won't be wall mounted)

thats pretty much it...

I think you should at least give us the size your looking at...

No matter what, in the $1000 price range, I think you should get something with 1080p. Then it can make a rather nice monitor too.

Last week I got a Toshiba 40" 1080p for $950 taxes in at futureshop last week, now normally I'd like to stick to the bigger brands but the reviews online were good and it looked fine in store. Unfortunately they just removed it from their site, and the f.s. I bought it from was the only one in town that had them, so it might be sold anywhere anymore.
