Default Can't get refresh rate higher then 60HZ

Hi Guys,

I just bought a new monitor : Acer H233H 23" HD Monitor, I love it!

Problem is I can't get the refresh rate higher then 60HZ on Windows 7 - 1920X1080, According to official website, the box and ATI Catalyst, it supports up to 75HZ on native resolution.. I can't seem to get it higher..

I know all refresh rates convert to 60HZ, thats what people have been telling me.. But I need it to run 75HZ, 60HZ causes tearing in games, yes its fixed when u enable Vsync, but I want to leave vsync disabled..

So my question is how do I force refresh rates in Win7 or with ATI Catalyst? I've tried looking for appz theres none for Vista, only XP..

Appreciate your time and help :]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\DirectDraw]
"ForceRefreshRate"= dword:00000055

Note dword value of 55 = 85 hz
Change dword value to 4b for 75 hz
Change dword value to 3c for 60 hz
Change dword value to 64 for 100 hz

....Can you do that with any monitor? I'm suddenly curious if I could push this monitor farther...

Mind you, I'm asking without having done any research at all, so if it's a retarded question, forgive me.

Monitors are locked regardless.

Even if you could bump it up the panel itself can only do so much. If the panel is a 60hz panel nothing you do will change that.

If you want more than 60hz then you'll need to buy a CRT.

LCD monitors don't use refresh rates they use response time.

Have you installed the drivers for the monitor yet? I believe Windows regardless of ver. defaults 60Hz for all LCD displays to be safe.

Some higher end LCDs will do more than 60Hz. Such as my Dell 2209WA, it will run native at 75Hz. But as said earlier, you can jig the registry all you want, the panel will only put out what it is meant to.
