Acer 22" widescreen--$200
I've decided to put my HTPC project on hold in favor of using the $200 budget to finally get a nice flatpanel monitor for my computer. I spotted a nice Acer 22" Widescreen (5ms response time) for a nice price tag of $200 at a local store, which makes things very easy.

The max res is 1680 by 1050.

How much of a strain will this do on my HD 4850, or is this, like, the perfect resolution LaGrange point for my card? (mine's the 512MB VRAM version)

With a single 9800GTX+, which is roughly the same performance of the 4850, on a 20" 16:10 I was getting pretty decent frame rates on most games (other then crysis >.<) If you have a future shop close by though they have a very nice LG 22" 2ms response time LCD on for around the $200 mark. Anyways I think your 4850 would be great matched with that monitor or one like it.

EDIT: heres the one im thinking of Future Shop: Computers: Monitors: LG 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor (W2254TQ)

As far as I know though the Acer monitors are fine, Ive been playing around with the idea of getting one of their 23"s.

hi, not sure what you think of samsung ,but you can get nice 22" 2ms in the $200.00 range here, there also a Acer 23" for $219.99 or dell 2209w for $209 the last 2 are both 1920x1080 ,you might want to try for PM elswhere as well .

Those are good deals Jay is that canadian pricing? ive never heard of the site before. I kinda like that Dell 22" but that res would really be pushing that 4850 something hard. I think hes going to want to stick to a 16:10.

If you were closer to the west coast i'd sell you mine for half that price. pm me if your interested and I can see what'd cost.

The monitor is perfect for the card, maxes every game at full res. Fairly close to maxing crysis too. With the CCC (cubans custom crysis configs). I can run it at very high with bearable fps.

Yeah the HD4850 is perfect for 1680x1050. Runs everything on maximum settings, of course excluding Crysis :bleh:

Though my card is OC'd at 690/1190.
