cleaning your LCD

I have heard that you can clean your LCD with a mixture of 50/50 water-alcohol. Is there any truth to this? Also, I have a large supply of large, sealed, medical grade alcohol wipes. They contain 70% alcohol. Will they harm the screen? Both myself and the gf are smokers and she likes to touch the screen. Damp cloth just doesn't seem to cut it.

Ditto for the damp cloth.

I wouldn't put any solvent on an LCD screen. No telling what kind of treatment the manufacturer might have put on the screen that could be affected by it.

I dont remember the name of it but you can pick up screan cleaners anywhere, walmart for example. The one I got had a small purple micro fibre cloth (I think I got it at walmart actually).

Warm water and a micro fiber cloth works... but if it doesn't get it as clean as you want it, grab the kit, it will clean it.

I use 99% isopropyl alcohol... wipe all across once with cloth wet with alc... wipe again with dry cloth... no streaks, works awesome. Alcohol will not harm LCD screens! You can put the stuff in open wounds! lol

i bought a kit called monster clean coms with the spray and a cloth i think it was only about $10;00 works great

Amonia is a no no. Any other glass cleaner is fine.

I'll 2nd the Monster Screen Cleaning kit, works great, i use it on both my Screens and Bezels and it does a wonderful job

I generally just dampen a corner of paper towel with water... works fine.

I use microfiber and Isopropyl :) Always have lots on hand between the kids getting scraped up in summer, me cutting myself....and of course computer cleaning needs!
