Default Two 22" vs. One 24" Monitor

Which would be better? Two 22" or one 24" monitor? They are both about the same, but the two 22" will cost me 20$ more.

I'd go multi monitor but I'm not personally used to anything bigger then 22. Not really aware of the limitations of a giant monitor compared to the limitations of two smaller ones.

First of all, which 22s and which 24? If you are looking for quality, likely the 24 will be better depending on the model. But if quality is not so much an issue for you than a multi screen setup is very nice. I use multi at work and it rocks. Also what will you be doing mostly. If you are going to be watching a lot of movies it'd be nicer to have the 24. Your 4870 should power a 24 without much trouble for games so that's not a concern. What's your reason for the possible multi setup?

I'm getting the cheapest monitors at NCIX because I'm on a budget. I'm using them for my new system, which I'll be building in the next two weeks. I photoshop a lot, do some rendering, play a little games, and sometimes watches movies. The only reason I want a multi monitor setup because its roughly the same cost from two 22" to one 24".

Well in that case, both are going to be TN panels so quality wise, they'll be about the same.

I'd go with dual 22" since that's way more real estate than a single 24", plus gaming on a single 22" (1680x1050) is less taxing than on a 24" (1920x1200).

I agree, duel them, you'll find that once you get use to it, you'll never want to go back. Also, I find it really does help when using programs such as photoshop, you can literally have every window open and out of the way :D

If your planning on learning 3ds max, a dual monitor is the way to go for sure, having the tutorials page open on one monitor while working on the other is heaven. Also, having materials windows, photoshop,, modifier properties, msn.... blah blah blah open on the other display while working is nice too.

AAAlso, if your running XP you can use nview to settup the two monitors as one desktop and you can game on the pair as one. you'll have a nasty break in the middle, but its surprisingly easy to get used too. FPS games kinda suck because you aim in the middle, but any other gamess are ok.

if you've never had multiple monitors before, do it. after you do it once, you'll never be able to go back ;)

Question is do you want 1920x1200 or not, that’s really the only reason for going
24”. The actual size in inches of the viewing area isn’t that much difference.
With two 22” you get more total viewing area, obviously!

I have a 22", and my brother has a 24", the difference is noticeable, but definitely not worth the extra cash. If i was you the decisions would be 1 vs 2 22" if your on a budget, and since you say you photoshop alot, duel monitors would be a big plus. Multitasking ftw
