i decide to get crt >_> just want to have best color/quality possible... i know viewsonic makes very high quality but little expensive... and i also know nec is another excellent crt manufacture...

just curious... anyone knows or uses viewsonic LCD... esspecially its "pro color cerfitication" ViewSonic - Excite your Passion for Color

is it close to color of crt? or better than mid-high lcd?

LOL, I'm sure real professionals would go for the TN panels they're trying to sell ...

If you're going to get LCD and colour accuracy and image quality are paramount, you'll want to get an IPS panel and calibration hardware. Expect to spend a large sum of money ($1000+) ...

Are you a graphics artist or just fussy about your monitor..I think you would be happy with a decent LCD more so then a CRT I think the size and brightness would outweigh the refresh rate benefits....

ever considered getting a color meter that way you can customize almost any monitor to correct process color. Do you work in RGB or CMYK while in Photoshop if in CMKY to produce accurate CMYK process colors you can also just grab your $20 color wheel set your Photoshop color and compare then adjust.

Good luck finding any NEW CRT on the market, most of the ones you find are not exactly the best ones. One advantage of LCD is the clarity across the entire image while on A CRT the focus can vary in corners - mind you I use a high-end pro series CRT, so there's nothing to compare - Yeah most LCDs now will rival those shitty old CRTs, but might not the higher end ones - I use it a lot for video editing and graphics stuff where color accuracy is very important - I use it to make video and photo corrections - on an LCD it is IMPOSSIBLE, because a dark image shows bright because of the LCD's backlight, and the fact it cannot display proper black levels. Some higher-end very expensive LCDs have a wide color gamut range (I've seen some that have a 110% gamuit range) and use 8bit to display all 16.7 colors, compared to most LCDs people buy at 60%-70% range and 6bit.

Also be careful about those huge contrast ratios, those are DYNAMIC specs - Some companies don't advertize the typical, but like to mislead people with the dynamic spec ONLY, and the 2ms G-G - If you are into graphics and require precision, you will want to invest a lot more money on a good LCD - Some graphic artists and game developers use high-end LCD that make traditional, inexpensive LCD look like utter shit ! So you get what you pay for ! Eventually I hope that the traditional 1 backlight LCD gets replaced with dynamic leds, that will make for better blacks and less bleeding.

12,000:1 :D That's DYNAMIC contrast mode..... Typical it's probably a fraction of that - Also some LCD manufacturers "overdrive" - and are less than honest with their specs.

I wasn't really impressed with the Viewsonics LCD I have seen (viewing angle wise) and image quality - I think it uses the cheaper TN panel. It's hard to come by good LCD especially when you buy them from BestBuy / Futureshop, most of the computer monitors seen use the cheap panels :)
