Default Advice on opening a monitor

Ok So I'm trying to open up a lcd monitor, I'm fairly certain that it has a dead capacitor so I'm looking to figure out how to open it up. Its a 20 inch lcd, and I've taken off all the screws. I can lift the bottom of the front of the monitor off slightly but I can't seem to get it off any more then that. Should I try to force the sides off? Has anyone opened a monitor before?

I've opened many laptops before (but not many monitors admittedly). There are normally little plastic tabs that hold the parts together without screws, they should "pop" open one at a time if you take your time going around the edge of the monitor. I'd suggest using a small Flathead screwdriver to gently wedge it open. I'll get back to you with more details, I'm going to replacing the silver bezel of my monitor with a black one in the coming weeks so I'll let you know how it goes, hehe.

I found a video on youtube of a guy doing it :

Did exactly what he did and it worked. Thanks for the quick reply though. Prying the sucker off was the right idea!

Alright I'm way beyond the opening of the monitor, I've taken the mainboard out and de-soldered capacitors that looked no good and replaced them.... however I have found the problem. Its a very small black... capacitor or resistor (leaning towards resistor). It also had a magnet on one end...

Labeled:

R1007

Any ideas what this is? (will post pics later if I can)

Edit: Haha forgot to mention the small black resistor (I think) is leaking green crap... and I assume this accounts for my monitors issues.
