I wouldn't let the HDMI input option sway you unless this is a top feature you want or need. It is a nice features but HDMI is backwards compatible with DVI. Buy the monitor you like the best if it doesn't have HDMI, you can always get adapter or a cable.
I would go to the shop, take in some well known media such as your favorite DVD and tell the guy you want to compare the two, he should have no trouble if he want to sell you a monitor that day. Things to keep in mind is many times Shops will set the monitors or TV for that matter bright to catch your eye.
This is done all the time to help sell the displays, People look at it and say "Wow, look how bright it is, I want that one!" meanwhile they didn't even notice the monitor is too bright and the colors are all washed out...
this is extremely common with LCD TV's...

Anyways, to business. I came across this while Googling for the Samsung 2443BW. Gameplaywarrior, Canada Computers has that monitor on sale for $335 until October 15th, 2008. I would normally post a link, but the forums won't let me...sooooo just mozie-on over to their site and take a look.

What's better, is that they have one on display there in plain view with their other LCDs, and since it has a HAS (Height Adjustable Stand) you really need to see this sucker...that's how I noticed it! Looks very cool. Gonna head-down to the Scarborough location tomorrow. Can't wait!
Welcome to the forums, and I think you'll find that you can make a link after your first post..... :)

@Jmac, I didn't say every company did it, but I have been in stores and checked setting on monitors and LCD TV and many are set way to high for brightness and contrast. Catches peoples eye when they see a very bright display...

I just finished buying the Samsung 2493hm from Future Shop, it came to $450 including taxes. I must say I'm highly impressed with the monitor. Hell, I like more than the Dell 2408 I had for a short period of time (painfully bright, plus the backlight bleed was horrendous). It rotates 90 degrees, had hdmi inputs, usb inputs, and looks great. Fantastic buy IMO. I think this is the last day to save $30 though.
