While it has been a nice little while since we reviewed a CPU here at HWC, we haven't forgotten this important niche! Recently we were able to put a B3 Phenom 9750 (non Black Edition) through the ringer and while it may not be as fast as some others it is still an impressive performer! You can read my review here and get all the juicy details!: Phenom 9750 Hope you enjoy it! AkG

Nice Review, I have the k9a2-cf mobo along with my phenom 9500 and it's really good no problems with it so far but it doesn't support 125w tdp. Only the revised v2 supports 125w and it's got a long sink over the mosfets. Here's the link to the specs page notice v 1.0 only supports up to 95w. MSI -- MICRO-STAR INT'L CO., LTD. Great review but in the benches, it didn't fair much better than it's Dual Core brother. And even though you saw greater performance when you overclocked it to 2.8GHz, how do you think it would fair between an overclocked AMD 5000+ BE at 3.2GHz?

It depends on the application ;) IF you are doing video encoding the Phenom will walk all over the X2. BUT for most apps which are complied (thank your Intel and your HTT) to take advantage/ use only two "threads" (and ONLY 2 threads) the X2 is still much better performer....and a q9450 will probably eat both alive in 9 out 10 apps :(

Hmmm couldn't convince you to OC that 5000+ BE to 3.2GHz and run those game benches again eh just for shits and giggles?

Damn ah well it was worth a shot. For someone like me who would be mostly gaming with it, I don't think the 9750 would be worth the extra $150.00 or so dollars over the 5000+ BE when if the OCed 5000+ @ 3.2GHz would more than likely beat it. Yeah right now that X2 would be a wise investment & spend the extra bucks on games!

Get an AMD X2 5000+ BE and a Biostar TFORCE TA790GXA2+ both for around $200.00 and pair them with a couple of Radeon HD4850s in Crossfire and that could be one potent mid-range gaming rig.
