Default Best Motherboard for 45nm Intel Quads

Alright im guessing a good cheap supply of desktop Nehalems aint gonna come out till second half of 2009..... i dont want to be spending like 400-500 on a cpu. Anyways if someone wants to deter me from spending please do. Lol so this is my plan im gonna try to get all my parts used i just need the following.

Motherboard
Ram
Cpu

So sincei been an AMD fan boy all these years i do not unforuntely know squat aboot whats good for Intel considering Motherboard and ram.

So if anyone has some suggestions id love to hear please keep in mind this will be watercooled if it makes a difference.

The Motherboard i would prefer if it was Sli compatible.

The Ram what would be the best for Overclocking, 24.7 use and a decent price.

Thanx for all the suggestions my Amd X2 4200 just aint cutting it for me. I like new projects and new things sometimes thats a costly thing to have.

P45s seem to really treat 45nms well. A good one to get would be the P5Q Dlx with 16 phase powah!

+1 From everything I've read, the P45 is the best for 45nm quads. And yeah I'd say the P5Q Deluxe as well since it has the most features out of all the ones out there.

Mushkin Redlines should do you fine. 500FSB will probably be tricky to get to depending on what CPU you're buying.

It's not SLI though, Cheator. Dashock, you're not gonna have an easy time finding a low-priced...decent, SLI+Wolfdale capable mobo. Your only choice for SLI is nVidia based boards. There aren't too many "cheap" ones. The 5xx are junk and 650 series aren't the best Intel boards either...700 series boards are good... but you're looking at $250-$300. If you forget SLI, you can get a cheap, great-performing P35 mobo.. and maybe even a P45/X38 board. Think it over...SLI will cost you alot more for Intel-based sytems than AMD-based. GL

Well i hear that Nehalem motherboards will have Sli support id like to use 2 8800gt's but its not a must i owned 1 ati card in my life and rest were Nvidia i dont plan to go Ati anytime soon. I plan to use my 8800gt for a long time. And thanx 1Tanker yea i wanna keep the price down as im going to be upgrading to Nehalem when things all settle down and cpu's prices come down.

Well if you want to go SLi, I would buy the eVGA 750 SLI FTW mobo. Thats a good motherboard.

Yes they are great and more importantly work well in a lot of boards. The ascents are also good.

For the rest if you want to keep the GT then I second the idea of a P45 like the P5Q, you also have the option of dropping in a monster GPU in the PCI 2.0 16x lanes at some point if you want to ride the board out for another year or so.

I'd only recommend another GT if you had an SLI board already, but since your going for a full platform then stick with the GT till it can game no more and see whats about when it cant. When your ready to switch to the new intel platform you should get a better price for the P5Q as well relative to a 750i. Ill buy the cpu and RAM off you

So for now Redline/ascent, E8400/8500, and P45 P5Q wifi or deluxe. 4.99 shipping at NCIX too

Well alright i like the idea of the 16 phase power and im guessing this would be the best choice for me ASUS P5Q Deluxe ATX LGA775 P45 DDR2 3PCI-E16 2PCI-E1 2PCI SATA2 Sound GBLAN eSATA 1394 Motherboard

http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...nufacture=ASUS

its got the 15 phase power supports both dual and quad can take memoorys 1200/1066/800/667 MHz only thing is its crossfire and im guessing theres nothing i can do in that price range and a good board that will give me sli. I plan on overclocking as well.....
