Default Does the optional fan of Rampage Formula works with Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme?

The Asus Rampage Formula motherboard comes with an optional fan. The manual says "The optional fan is designed to provide airflow over the CPU power modules and chipset area when water-cooling or passive-cooling is utilized.

Does that mean that I can use this fan with Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme heat sink?

Your help is greatly appreciated

My System Specs

Depends how you mount your TRUE and if your using dual-fans on it or not. I have the Maximus Formula and a TRUE with push/pull P12s, like so:

The optional fan will not fit, it's close though. If I removed the rear fan on the TRUE it would fit, but the air that flows out from the TRUE is plenty to keep the NB/SB cool. My NB is 38C and SB is 35C.

Oh and the Maximus and Rampage Formula share the same layout I believe.

As said, that little piece of crap is for if you're watercooling, and have less airflow over the heatsinks. Personally, if you're in need of more airflow, there are plenty of better ways to go about getting it. Velcro a 120mm fan to the side of the case, aimed at the heatsinks. Turn up the case fans. Take on the side panel and aim a room fan at the motherboard. Pass wind at the heatsinks. Better options than that little fan thing are everywhere.
