upgrade..

i have a - Asus PTGD1-LA (Grouper) Motherboard is there anyway i can get the hp biso off so i can overclock my cpu? or is there a better cpu i could buy that my motherboard will support

my cpu is a Intel Pentium 4 550J

i was thinking of getting Intel CPU 1 x Intel Core 2 Duo E4600 2.4 GHz ( 800 MHz ) - LGA775 Socket - L2 2 MB - Box

will that work in my motherboard? they are both 775 sockets and it says my real clock is 200MHz but my Effective clock is 800MHz

so it should work? *fingers crossed*

Your board is probably too old to support a Core 2 CPU.

If you're looking to OC or even if you're not, the cheap and good option is a new mobo, the Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3L. Can be had for $93 at NCIX. No Raid, No Firewire, No SLI or Crossfire.

The E4600 is about $140, I'd save up another $60 for an E8400 if I were you.

The GA-EP35-DS3L is an amazing board. Highly recommend.
