6000+ overclocking results
Hey I've got a sample AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ here and I just wanted to give you guys some idea what you can get out of them on water cooling. 3.3GHz was dead easy on high end water cooling (APOGEE GT with Thermochill radiator) and I seem to have topped out at about 3.35GHz. At that point it doesn't seem to matter how much voltage I give it. Temps don't appear to be an issue. They don't go over 45C under load even at those settings and almost the max voltage this board can provide. It seems that's about all that K8 was good for. It had a good run :)
cheap DDR2 memory running a ridiculously low divider so as to remove it as a bottleneck
XFX Geforce 6200TC
600W modular Silent Green PSU
Maxtor 120GB SATA
MCP350 w/ Alphacool reservoir top
Thermochill PA120.2 w/ SilenX fans
Clearflex 1/2" tubing
Nice!! How much juice are you pushing throught it exactly ?
I'd like to see SuperPi 1M score with good RAM...i'm sure this CPU at 3.3 is one heck of beast! I'd say something in the low-20s
That's still pretty good.
As you said.... the platform is pretty well maxed out, I'm surprised you squeezed that much out of it.
It's still "top locked" for multipliers right?
I also noticed 1.6V.... what's stock?
Yeah i'd like to see a 1M run too :bleh:
Good job! :thumb:
running into problems overclocking with tight memory timings. Still more work to be done on this, but I threw some D9GMH chips in there for some 3-3-3-10 1T benching, and the results are as posted. Not dramatically different from what you'd get on an overclocked FX-60...
Makes me love my 3700+ all the more..... :)
These are on for only $289 at NCIX right now-- good deal
Paid my kit about 390$ CAD also from NCIX.com
Maybe so but it seems to be the only high end cpu on sale? Can't find AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+ on sale anywhere---this one should be a steal. Newegg has it at 269 us but here no-one has it on sale?
