fatal error help

I was trying to install windows xp and once the reformat was over and started installing windows xp pro i got this fatal error saying " an error has been encountered that prevents setup from continuing. One of the components that windows needs to continue setup could not be installed. The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error."

A quick Google and it seems that a dirty/scratched install disk can do this. Also, try a long slow format instead of the quickie.
