Not 1-2 per store for Microcenter. It's at least 10 and limited quantities in stores like in NY for example. However Microcenter has said they have very little quantity on hand so those 10 will go very quickly due to high demand. Either way Coffee Lake should be good on X99 6 core pricing it should push it even further down eventually.

Newegg just got stock. Microcenter in Westbury LI, NY and Detroit have 1 of each kind. It is like live update, really.

SKYMTL, do you have a 8350K sample? I'd love to see a comparison between that and a 7600K. Both unlocked quad-cores......

Unfortunately we were only sampled two processors. Looking into buying the others but right now I don't want to fight with the buying public for stock.

Did read from stem to stern. Great info and it cleared up several things for me regarding the tech.

It does make me want an 8700K. I'm still running 4790K too with a reasonable OC but I would still like to get more cores. I agree with everything you are saying FreeKnight, but I still might do it anyway!

I guess the biggest question for me right now is I know we have briefly discussed Ice Lake on here but I believe we aren't likely to see that until 2019? If that is true then upgrading to Coffee Lake without another major bump until 2019 doesn't seem too bad; that seems more like the regular cadence again. But if there is something else coming in between Coffee and Ice (Cannon...? or only for mobile perhaps?) then that would make me hesitate upgrading between now and Q1 2018 say, to avoid jumping too quickly.

Excuse me... I have to go consult pcpartpicker

Cannonlake has been expected to be mobile only for some time, and at this point it appears to be rolled into this multi generation 8th Gen family (Kaby Lake refresh mobile, Coffee Lake desktop, Cannon Lake mobile). It's continued delays have seen it go from the "8 core desktop" (VERY early on) to "desktop" to "mobile only".

Ice Lake is being aimed towards Aug-Sept timeframe unless there's a delay. Tiger Lake is 2019. Sapphire Rapids is 2020 (new uarch).

If you don't need anything now, sure, wait? If you need something now, might as well get a Coffee Lake or Ryzen 7 depending on your exact needs. You may even want to consider a 7800X or 1900X if you actually need more PCI-E lanes.

Hmmm, i7 8700k looks impressive, if I was to go that way as in team blue how well would overclocking go with 2666mhz ram, do you need higher speed ram?

These ram prices are killing my upgrade idea and the higher speed 3000/3200mhz ram are just way too much for me to justify spending.

Queens/Flushing had about 10 in stock and are already sold out. NJ had less and are also sold out. Seems like a few of the other store locations I checked are sold out.

A week ago I got 2x4GB 3200 DDR4 GSkill from Newegg at 55 CAD. Half-price. There was only a single package though, and I needed two. It seems Newegg sells off left-overs at decent discount. Lucky purchase.
