Default Will coffee lake be available for purchase on Monday?

I'm looking to upgrade to coffee lake, and was wondering if Intel usually has their boards and CPUs available for purchase on release date

Processors might be available then but I've yet to see listings of Z370 motherboards. I think motherboards may come weeks later for stock. You probably can pre-order them. Also depends whether this is a hard or soft launch for Intel too.

With the tech world what really is a launch? :) I am hoping that it will be more than a paper launch with product details but experience has shown such a variation on launch day.

Even MSRP information can be misleading as the retailer feast on demand (if there is any).

We'll see. I am either going Coffee Lake or Ryzen 5. My next build will be 6 cores, the only question will be price/performance numbers. If Intel prices the i7 8700k processors in line with the 7700k then I am in. If the prices are over that, I think the value of the Ryzen 5 rises, and I buy AMD and overclock it for performance that should be close.

I just hate waiting.

That's my thoughts as well. I've got the upgrade itch and have been trying to talk myself out of ordering a 7700k. But if the 8700k is like $600 then I'll definitely be getting a 7700k..

From all indications a new chipset is due for release as well. The only confirmation on that is an Asrock tweet reply that said there will be no backward compatibility even though the package appears to remain the same.

In my case it will be a whole build so I am not concerned, but for those Z170/270 folks it looks like it might be better to wait for the next gen 10 nm fabrications. But as always, some people budget a lot of coin for their hobbies and can change on a whim :)

This is what pisses me off about Intel. Having to buy a new board with basically every generation of CPU is just ridiculous. Coupled with my want for stronger competition and the drive to support the underdog, and my next desktop will be AMD. Although that's likely a long way down the road. With the new tech, prices on my 7600k system are dropping too much to justify selling it. So I'll keep that for several years I think.

Yep, its a paper launch. AFAIK nothing is coming until Q4 2017. Q1 2018 for dual-core and remaining Coffee Lake CPUs with Ryzen refresh following that.
