Default Bottleneck condition created?

If I get a second 8800GTX, meaning I have 2 GTXs in SLI, will that create a bottleneck with my CPU, the E6750?

I highly doubt it, if infact your cpu is running at 3.61ghz. SLI configuration I believe are less affected by bottlenecks (cpu speed/GPU speed), but more so by the drivers and how well the games scales a dual GPU.

Depends what you play, but in the vast majority of situations, no.

I'm still on S939 with an 8800 GTS G92 card, and in most games I play, the GPU is still the bottleneck.

Default Unlikely

I dont think youll bottleneck if recent games are anything to go by-although I would clock it to over 3.2 for gaming.

Default BTW

Forgot to say I'm going to be selling my unregistered GTX (8 months old) in the next week or two for around 200 shipped with the HR-03 if your interested.

Ive got some pics/specs ready to post in the FS section but I'm just waiting on some money I'm owed before I commit to a sale.

Under 1650X1080 resolution and the CPU is the bottleneck. Over that resolution and the GPU's slowly become the bottleneck. If you run games under 1920X1200 then you just do not need dual 8800GTX cards as SLI will not scale well at all at lower resolutions.

So.. What your saying is that I shouldn't buy a second 8800GTX? I have my resolution for games/desktop at 1650X1080.

Default yea

I think BK is right to some degree for that resolution. My brother has a similar system to me except he runs two GTX's at 1680*1050--the only real benefit seems to be Crysis where hes about 20% over my FPS. But the gain could be a lot more if it was moved to a higher res.

I think there is a bit of confusion here, to clarify what b1lk1 means is the cpu is no longer the bottleneck at or above resolutions of 1920x1200 the performance results is primarily how well the GPU performs.

SLI does not scale well at lower resolutions ie. 1280x1024, 1024x768, meaning you will see little to 0 increase in performance, however at 1680x1050 you will see the benefits of SLI, how much? As said before it is heavily dependant on the drivers and how well the game will scale a dual video card configuration.

I personally think adding a second video card would be beneficial for future games hopefully it will be supported and scale better the only limiting factor would be how well they perform with your 8800GTX, much like you I am in the same position as I will have to wait and see how well my 8800GT cards will hold up to the new releases and if the benefits of my aging SLI rig hold up.

My system plays most new releases very well with the exception of Crysis while I have been able to play it 1680x1050 in certain areas I have had to tone down the resolution to maintain playable framrates. I have not tested Crysis to see how well SLI performs, but what I have read regardless of the cards you have SLI has show little increase performance given most can't play it above 1280x1024 with high or very high settings.
