Msi G965m

Well, here is the thing. I have a MSI G965m, I know not the greates board, but it works, and it runs Leopard beautifully with all my other hardware. I currently have a E6320 and wanted to get a quad core, however I checked on MSI's site and it states it isnt supported nor is any of the new 45nm cpus, except an E7300. I has hoping perhaps someone has actually physically tested this - a Q6600 with the board or a 45nm cpu. I really dont want to have to change my board as it took a good while to get everything working perfectly on Leopard. If I have no other choice I guess I will have to switch but I figured I would shoot out the question in hopes I dont have to buy a new board (99.9% likely I do).

Looking at the site I'm thinking you're SOL for every but the E7300 which apparently is currently undergoing testing.

As an end-run I had a look at the bios' page in the hopes that maybe their cpu compatability chart hadn't been updated for a while, but there's nothing in the new bios pages suggesting that a new version will run a quad.

Best bet would be to sell the motherboard & cpu as a matched set and put the money towards a new board.

Nope, no 45nm chips except possibly the E7300.

I went a bit further and had a quick look through the MSI forum site (tons of helpful folks who've been around for a hell of a long time... :) ) and still couldn't find anything.

If it were me.... I'd be planning for a new motherboard.

Yea looks like my only choice is to grab a new board, unfortunately my only option if I want to upgrade my cpu.

Ah well, nothing like experience in installing OSX86 on a PC.
