Default Looking for LGA1150 mobo with descent onboard sound

Im planing to upgrade soon and was looking at a i7-4790K and a Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD3H ($140).

Anything in that price range that I should look at instead? I'd like to have descent onboard sound.

Around that price range.

The ASUS Z97-A uses the older ALC892 but gives it a ton of upgraded circuitry to work with

Gigabyte on the other hand uses the newer ALC1150 and also features upgraded components.

Some folks think the 892 has a better sound profile than the 1150 but others think the exact opposite.

In the end, I really don't think you'll actually hear the difference between the two unless you're pushing out audio signals to a seriously high-end speaker system.
