Default Intel G3258 + board for overclocking

Hi guys, looking at putting a build together for someone on a budget, Want to OC the pentium and also allow a drop in upgrade (with overclocking)

Was looking at the MSI H87m-G43 but it's not available from the retailer I want to use, anyone got other suggestions for boards on the cheap that I'll be able to oc a bit on?

Asus boards if you can get your hands on them. I've got a H81i-Plus/CSM and it worked fine with the G3258. That's a mITX board though.

That board allows overclocking (H81 chipset)? If so, cheers.

Yes with the 2001 bios.

I had mine running @ 4.7 under custom water and currently running 4.4 with a CM Hyper 212.

edit 2: Mem stuck at 1333 (apparently that's the pentium's doing) but even the onboard GFX can be OC'd.... ;)

Is it locked out on newer bios, or is that the newest?

It was the newest when I grabbed mine a couple of months ago, and it seems to me that 3.0Charlie was looking at the same version recently.

I haven't oc'ed mine yet - still waiting for the case (HAF915F) to arrive. My board is an Asus H87i-Plus.

So really I want this to be a bit future proof with a drop in upgrade in a couple of yrs to a second-hand i5 / i7 & GPU, it's basically this with the motherboard and storage still to be picked
System Build - PCPartPicker United Kingdom

I was looking at the MSI h97 selection here: Socket 1150 - Intel H97 - Scan.co.uk
At under 65 it's right on the budget, has PCI-E 3, crossfire support if he ever wants a really cheap upgrade on the GPU, 1600 ram, and so on..
Not a huge selection on that site but it's local to the guy buying it, so am stuck with scan.

Does that board support over clocking? I was under the impression that h series boards didn't normally.

There's a thread on Anandtech listing boards where people have successfully OC'd.
