Default Exclusive: AMD to Launch "New" FX-9590 CPU

It all started with a tweet. AMD teased an unnamed new FX-series chip on Twitter and we've got the inside track. It's a refreshed 5GHz FX-9590 with an included water cooling unit.

Well what a coincidence since I was looking to replace my i5 750 with an AMD, ultimately I decided to wait since I remembered how ancient the chipset is. If they ever release a new FX CPU with a new chipset (or use FM2+ who knows) then I'll upgrade to that.

The tdp/heat/power use just to get comparable performance to intel chips doesn't justify this chips existence. The fact it includes a water cooler is good, but if a CPU is well designed it should need one at stock clocks.

Didn't they do this with another one of their EOL processor lines in an attempt to squeeze an extra 100 MHz out of it?

That cpu was nothing more then an e-penis thing for AMD to claim they have only cpu factory clocked to 5ghz, but what little good it does cause power usage and you can get more cpu power from i7 4790 and save $ on your power bill

Exactly this... Why would I drop $370 to $400 on a processor when a similar priced Intel processor runs circles around it?

Well to be fair, the FX-9590 was close to performance of a 4770k at stock clocks, but at 3 times the power TDP.

Why on earth would you go for such an inefficient design?

Interesting you say that, since I find that an 8 core CPU that draws at maximum 200W (I think I don't have my numbers with me) is reasonable to me, you may say well Intel draws at around 75 W. Yes but that's 4 cores with or without 8 threads. It may seem inefficient but there's not that huge of a gap.

EDIT: Ok max Intel 3rd gen Is 77 TDP while AMD 8350 is 125W I'm comparing 2012 CPU to a 2012 CPU if you're wondering.
