How about a single xeon? Would it oc in that Rampage IV board?

From what I've read, they generally don't oc very well. Just figured with that many cores it should do reasonably well benching.

Besides, what better than 1 of those in that ROG IV Black...

I'd say a Ivy-E 4960X in Rive BE board with swiftech H320+6 Noctua 120's OCed to he'll with fast ram and a superfast pcie ssd. And some Maxwell octa core loving.

Well I think I may have that ES. Just waiting to get confirmation....

Now to survive the wait time 'til it gets here......Someone chew their nails, mine r already gone....

Thanks to another member I'm gonna try a pr of Enterprise drives for my os next.

From what I understand it doesn't really help the scores so I was considering adding another SSD for a separate os just for benching. No extras, like av,.....

Don't recall who mentioned it though.

Thoughts, suggestions...

Ok, so which processor would be best for benching... The xeon dodeca core sounds pretty good, but is it

worth the bother for benching with 3DMark?

I could probably get a 4960x for a fair bit cheaper than the 12 core xeon ES.

Which x79 xeons would be best for benching? Someone mentioned they can outperform the reg chips in some cases.

Another fellow told me not to bother with raid for benching either,.... A 2nd os I guess as I mentioned b4 should eliminate that issue.

Ok, came to my senses long enough to avoid the Xeon hassles and ordered the 4960x...

Oh, I got 5 codes, 1 for the board and 1 for each ti.

When I tried to use them, I keep getting charged almost full price. Something I'm not doing right obviously.

Going to call them to walk me thru it,lol

Likely get 1 of each. after 3, don't know.

Chip still hasn't even been shipped yet. Time to call again. Ordered on the 2nd, called on tuesday. Payment

made, no chip sent. If I can get a price match, I'll cancel this sale and go pick 1 up myself...

Are you sure the offer isn't limited to a single game per household and you've already got that one?

It's pretty standard for things like MIRs, so I wouldn't be surprised to see it on game offers.
