New motherboard

I just got $800 dollars and I am planning on spending $400 on water cooling.. I still can buy something for $200-$300, so I was thinking of getting a new motherboard. Which motherboard would you recommend thats around $200-$275?

why that much? My Abit IP35-pro board was $160 and is a great board.

Is your present motherboard giving you problems somehow? Is so, how exactly? I'm not sure I'd advocate switching to a newer motherboard if the current one is causing you zero problems.

Odds are, a quick survey from this forum on mobo choices will get you mostly Intel chipset suggestions. But as you are, you're only one video card away from an SLI setup. Was that something you wanted to keep as an option?

Beyond that, how serious of an overclocker are you? Once you crack the $200 mark, most of what the more expensive boards give you are more BIOS options. But some people just hate screwing with that sort of stuff, and even the latest midrange boards should have no trouble supporting your current overclock, especially if you're switching the watercooling.

Hahaha he has a $680i... Yes get a new board!! I suggest the DK X38 board from DFI. It looks to be a very good performer. In the P35 department, the Gigabyte boards are all decent. I like the P35-DS3P as it has Crossfire support and RAID.

Well, I can't do SLI on my current motherboard because all my PCI and PCI-E slots are dead.. Only the very top PCI-E slot works, so SLI is not an option on my motherboard.. Another option I was thinking about was to get two 9800GTX's in SLI and a new mobo with my $800, meaning that I would ditch my watercooling... is this a good idea? I still have enough extra hardware lying around to cool my CPU, but then that would mean I wouldn't be able to watercool the chipset and the GFX.

A P35 and a Quad core? or just a X38?
I have a almost new P5k Deluxe that I can sell for $150. I've tested it and had it for a week. It was supposed to be for another rig but don't have the cash right now. If you want, I also have a Q9300 I can sell for $280.

Is this a good motherboard? Its in my price range, supports the 45nm CPUs, and has SLI (3 way) support. P5N-T 780i


EDIT: I've decided to buy this because I want to get a new CPU too. It supports 45nm CPUs. The downside is that it only supports crossfire. Is there a way to get it to support SLI? BIOS flashes, etc?
