Default Installed New Mobo. Install Drivers?

Hey guys,

I just installed a P8Z77-I in my Prodigy and booted it last night. It runs perfect. I haven't installed any drivers and the mobo did not come with a CD. Should I bother installing drivers if everything is running ok?

I checked the drivers on this board and there are like 76 drivers. Is it necessary to download every one?

Here is the link: ASUS - Motherboards- P8Z77-I DELUXE

If it was replacing your MSI Z77 board you don't need the chipset drivers as they are the same. If your sound and ethernet are working, I wouldn't bother with those either.

You will need the bluetooth and USB 3.0 drivers if you use them.

there is only once that I used a cd that was in the box with my motherboard and that was because I couldn't connect to the internet .
now t hat said even though you didn't get the cd it is always a good idea to go to the website and install the drivers that you need like for the Ethernet and on board sound if you like . sort of like your other PC hard ware for instance a video card it is a good idea to keep up to date .

The only thing I would do on that board is check the NVM PHY firmware from Intel for the 82579 NIC. It's likely that it's fine if the Intel or MS NIC drivers installed and don't have a yellow exclamation in Device Manager, but you can check it first prior to upgrading.

I would download and install the latest drivers for everything... But thats me... and it should be a list of about 7 - 13 things... forget bloatware / apps and old versions.

Alright, I updated most of the drivers. She's still purring!

Quick question though. The USB3.0 on the front panel doesn't work when I plug in a USB 2.0 device (Camera plug). It keeps beeping and says it cannot be found. I've heard of this problem with the Prodigy before. Anyway to overcome this?
