No. It's the chipset. It (the hardware) needs to be fixed.

I have a question. Is there a way to read the product number or something on the box that says it is the next stepping with the bug fixed? The internet is saying that by July 31 you should be getting fixed CPUs, but I am worried with my luck I will buy some old stock and get a bugged chip. Is there anyway to tell by looking at the box?

Not as far as I know. It's usually only silk screened on the motherboard itself. However, you can ask your e-tailer to open the box and check the revision number for you.

The bug is not with the CPU, it's the chipset on the motherboard. Therefore there should be a revision number.

eg MSI z87 g45 rev1.1 or something

They should be able to tell by the product code.

Here is some info on it. Apparently, with some people (like me) you may experience data loss with most storage devices connected to a revision 1.0 series 8 USB 3.0 port. I can see how some might be confused. Just look at the misleading title in that article.

Edit: Just noticed my own title is misleading as well. Will change it.

I'm still patiently (maybe impatiently) waiting for the new revision boards to complete my upgrade.

I'm concerned about my external hard drive. 6 year olds should not be plugging and unplugging devices from Dad's PC to make their movies work
