Default Haswell : expensive motherboards become even more useless? (or less useful)

Now that most of the VRM are built into the CPU,the "overclock certified" motherboards will have even less impact on the performance, what do you think about it?

Of course, for the extremes,an expensive motherboard will be needed, but i'm wondering if they will make 400$ mobos that just have the bonus to have integrated wifi and good sound card...

I bet you will be able to overclock a 4770k at 4.8 ghz with a 150$ mobo.

I doubt those two things would be that much of a selling point as the folks who would pay the extra bucks for those features are going to want dedicated cards that they can change out if requirements / specs change.

There are more than enough people who buy expensive hardware without researching to see if they actually benefit from any of the features vs buying a slightly cheaper one, so you know...

A board's VRM is 1 feature of many and although it may sound like it is no longer important, it is..

It's always been my philosophy that expensive motherboards are for people that love playing WITH their computer (as opposed to playing ON the computer).

I am one of those tinkerers. Of course I need 7 fan headers and 6 temp probes on my motherboard. A coffee maker wouldn't hurt neither....

I thought i saw a review of a Z87 board that had replaceable op amps for the onboard sound. Forget which one though.

Anything and everything is important. No such thing as overkill.
