It's strange, the TigerDirect email newletter had much lower prices then when you went to their site. Did prices already jump that much?

TigerDirect.ca |CANEM2910 |Intel Haswell CPU & PC Launch

4770k = $349, on-site = $402 for example.

Found this at the bottom of their newsletter, so just need to wait a couple of days

Also how does Microcenter manage to sell the processors at those prices? Or are those just loss leaders used to drive customers into their stores to buy other stuff?

I think I'll probably pick up a 4670k and a asrock z87e-itx mobo for my prodigy build once I have the money.

Just as well I held off getting parts then, I guess. I've had my eyes on a 3770k and a sabertooth for a couple of months, may as well wait and get the lower power draw of a 4770k.

They're loss-leads as you guessed. They've been doing it for like the last 8 years.

Where are all the higher end boards? Besides Gigabyte there seems to be none. And I don't do orange or green.

What are you looking for? Z87-Deluxe is out now or the MVIE will be out soon if you want the benching board. Not going to be cheap though.

I wouldn't buy one of those golden motherboards in a million years.

Asrock Extreme9 or an MSI Xpower are the two I was looking at.

yeah, I was kind of annoyed when I saw that. those motherboards are so gaudy. but at least I have a closed case so I won't see it 99% of the time if I did get it.

Really? I was thinking of doing a build with black and gold. Tiered of the red and black.
