I went from an 800 Duron, 333 fsb 2700+,s754 clawhammer, x2 5600 and 6000, x4 940BE and now x4 965BE.

I'd like an FX8350 but the 965BE still does its job well enough.

In my house we've got 4 amd towers and 2 intel laptops.

At parents house they've got 3 amd towers and an intel n570 netbook.

I just find amd has a good bang for the $$$ on the tower end and intel was a better laptop buy$$$.

Horses for courses.. if you have the budget for an 8350 you have it for an i5.. then it just comes down to what you use it for. If rendering etc then yea 100% go the AMD.. if gaming or single threaded stuff then 100% go intel.. BUT a cheaper i5 or even an i3 will beat out most AMD chips at gaming and generally for not that much more especially if your getting a discreet card anyway.

Usage is and budget will always dictate what your best option is... simple fact is though that if someone has the budget to go for an i5 over something cheaper then I'll always suggest it as it will last many normal users a hell of a lot longer than spending 2/3rds of the amount on something thats sufficient and it allows them to OC on top of it...

That is until something changes in the market
