If you're planning on reusing your ram, take the 3570K. Newer tech, less heat, better resale value.

I thought the 3570k was much hotter than the 2500k when oc'ing? From what I have read the 2500k oc's easier too. Other than that there isn't much difference in the two except for a few features you'd probably never use or notice. 3570k has a better igp too but I doubt you're buying it to use that. I'd take the 2500k.

the 3570k is a nice chip, but yes I have hear/read the same, when clocking it up, it gets quite hit and needs very specific coolers to suck that heat away, clock for clock they are like 10-20% faster, but, if OC is taken into account, then its moot, as the 2500k are known to be tremendous overclockers e.g 4.5Ghz vs 4.8Ghz

and the op said one COMES with ram, what is ram? 1600 class?
other is just cpu

5.0ghz on a 2500k is pretty easy to accomplish. Its just a matter of cooling it. It'll run stable with out much tweaking but I wasn't able to keep it cool enough for my comfort with just an air cooler. If you're on a custom liquid loop than 5ghz is easy. 4.5-4.8 runs cool though even on air.

It's sounds like the 2500k is the one to get. For now will be on air later on water once my rad comes in and I get a pump.

If they are the same price and you already have the ram I would opt for the 3570k.

Maybe I will buy both and then test to see which of them do best for OCing and heat. Then decide to keep the better one of the two and sell the other one.

Just want to get back into OCing again and start water cooling.

Good idea. You'll get your money back easy if you decide to sell either. You can get 180 easy for a good ocing 2500k on ebay. The ram is pure bonus/profit.
