LGA775 cooler on i5 3570k

Hi,

Am ok with installing a freezer pro 7 with an LGA775 mounting bracket to my i5 3570k ? My motherboard (ASRock Extreme Pro 3) has 775 and 1155 mounting holes so does that mean I'm good to go?

Just trying to see if I can re use my cooler instead of going to buy another one.

I was gonna tell you as long as you have motherboard supports 775 cooler/cooler has switchable bracket then youre good to go. So yes your cooler will work but since the freezer pro is a weaker and older cooler I dont know how it would do on a 3570k, but give it a try first.

Check that the mounting bracket doesn't touch anything underneath or on top and has space from motherboard to back panel off case.

If all Yes then it should work.

I would look fore a way to put two fans and better fans on the sink itself.

watch your temps with core temp or real temp see how it does compared to stock spinner.

I ended up going ahead and installing it. Things look good so far, I've had prime95 running for an hour and my temps haven't exceeded 50 C. How does this cooler compare to the cooler master 212 ? This is the cooler that everyone seems to recommend for best bang for you buck, if the gains are significant I don't mind forking out the 30$.

No, still stock. I'm planning on OC next, do you think it's worth getting the 212?

That's what I'll do then, Any issues with memory clearance with the 212 ? My memory heat sinks are pretty high. I've only got 2x4GB right now so it's not too much of an issue I can just move the memory slots but if I ever upgrade I want to make sure clearance won't be an issue.

The fan is attached to the heat sink using side clips, and the fan(s) can be installed after the heat sink body to the board. As such, even taller ram sinks should not be a problem, and the fan install in a worst-case scenario can be adjusted.

Even to the point of having the fan installed "higher" on the tower heatsink to allow clearance, and/or just re-orienting the cooler in an up/down position as opposed to the optimal (for airflow) front/back position.

I keep a new 212+ on hand at all times even though I don't do that many builds these days. Still top of my list for bargain coolers. (strangely enough as was the AC7 pro... I did reviews/build logs on both.... ;) ).
