In an announcement that will likely come as a shock for some, Intel has announced they will be ramping down their desktop motherboard business over the next three years.

Sad day. These boards are some of the best, and always have been. My old 965 series intel board is still going strong in a buddies kids computer.

I second that Sagath.
Intel branded boards (foxconn) have always been my backstop when there weren't too many good options out there in the motherboard world.
Its a sad day when Intel is finally dissolving something that was for the longest time a good symbol of stability...

Eventually they'll all be just a black box you plug in the wall. Your options will the to choose the colour that matches the decor :(

That makes sense since companies make more from whole system purchases than they do from single component upgrades...

aren't they just redirecting their mobo resources into SFF mobo development like those DIY AIOs and the NUCs?
