Default hardware break in best practice

I'm in the process of finishing my first gaming rig and was wondering if anyone has any recommendations to "break in" my hardware ? From what I've been reading some people will leave there systems running for 48 hrs, are there any applications I should run to stress test the hardware ?

Thanks

I guess if you really wanted to stress test the system you could run prime95 to test the cpu and maybe run a game for the video card or msi kombustor.

Another option would be to do some "Folding @ home". That will stress the system for sure.

It's not 'best' but Futuremark's PCMark or 3DMark is commonly used.

I tend to use OCCT or Prime 95 to stress test a CPU, and Furmark or Kombustor to test a GPU. If it passes those, then I throw on Folding @ Home for 24 hours. If there's no errors after 24 hours of Folding, it's stable.

Edit: This has links to all the software mentioned except the folding. It's available at folding.stanford.edu
