Default Asus Sabertooth Z77 cooling

Hy guys, I'm new here. Hope you can help.

I've just ordered a bunch of stuff for a PC upgrade. Among others, I bought a Z77 Sabertooth board and am planing to use it without those 35mm fans. Do you think it will have overheating issues?? Or will I have to remove the thermal armor??

I will be using either an Antec Tweleve Hundred case or a HAF XM. I own both of them, haven't made up my mind about wich one I'll be using for this rig.

Also, CPU cooler will be a Corsair H80.

There would likely be only a few degrees difference when using the fans, and I wouldn't bother removing the Thermal Armor. If you are overclocking, I would recommend using the included fans to dissipate the heat that would build-up and they likely wouldn't be the noisiest thing in your rig. Asus also includes a monitoring utility in the form of Thermal Radar to monitor the temperatures, fire it up as you run some benchmarks then decide for yourself. It's a nice board, and includes a 5 year warranty and Asus' great customer service.

The components should arrive tomorrow, or monday the latest. I didn't think it would have any problems either (especially considering the good airflow of the case) but I did want somebody else who owns one of these boards to confirm that.

I appreciate you taking the time to reply.

I own the board but I did install the fans. Thankfully I can't hear them so it's not an issue for me. When I was researching the board there was a review where they didn't install the fans and stress tested the crap out of it in a hot box I believe and it didn't have any issues. I wouldn't worry about installing the fans or having to remove the thermal armor.

Personally I would install the fans or remover the armour... but then thats more for aesthetics than any real performance increase..

I't likely that the fans will not be the loudest in your system.. Install them and try with and without them.. If it's loud leave them disconnected, if it's not then leave them connected..

I don't find them noticable at all, so I would just install them.

you won't notice the sound of the motherboard fans over the noisier of gpu fan or case fans. I have my fans intaking air in the middle and then the second fan exhausting out the i/o shield area (took me a while to find where the second fan went )

Default no sweat

I am using that board on a test bench (it is the permanent installation) with 1 of the fans installed , you will not have any issues with heat , don't even "sweat" it!

Thanks for your answers guys. Looking forward to assembling my new PC. Don't know about you, but I enjoy putting the components together on my own as much, if not more, than using the final product. Does that make me a geek??
