My System Specs

Default Another... system critique!

I'd just like anyone to look this over and see what they think. I've done a lot of research over this system and it's been a lot of fun. Before anyone suggests a different CPU I'd like to note that I already have mine; a good friend actually works at Intel and sent me the chip free of charge (woot!). Which was the only reason I even started a new build, as my current system is entirely fine. Anyways, check below!

INTEL Q6600 w/ Scythe Katana 2 Cooler + AC MX-2 Thermal Compound (I hope to hit 3.0ghz here)
EVGA 750I SLI FTW
EVGA 8800GT Akimbo SC 512MB 720MHZ/2.0GHZ
Mushkin XP PC2-8000 Redline 4GB 2X2GB DDR2-1000 CL5-5-5-12 (Thanks HWC! ) (Might go with 8gigs, we'll see!)
Corsair TX650W PSU
WD Raptor 150GB SATA 10KRPM 16MB
WD Caviar SE16 250GB SATA2 7200RPM 16MB
WD Caviar SE16 500GB SATA2 7200RPM 16MB
Samsung DVDRW etc etc
Windows Vista 64bit

I have not decided on a case yet, tossing between a few.. any suggestions appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Coolermaster Stacker 832! You know you want to. All that aluminum glory and enough space for 10+ 120mm fans! Woohoo! (Join our lil stacker club, hehe)

Just throwing this out there...but...I own both the raptor 150 and WD640 SE16 (just released) and the dif in speed is negligible....heck the 640gb is faster in some things! Plus its only 130 bucks....put the extra money into getting a Cosmos S and a butt load of noctua NF-P12 fans ;)

My opinion is highly biased , but with that said, hope I don't ruffle feathers:
I believe the Raptor 10k is an over-rated HDD, very good in its day, when nothing better around, but honestly, is the cost of a Raptor justifiable over a new Seagate / WD SATA 2 3GB/s 250 - 500 GB HDD....?
My Seagate 320GB is awesome, fast, quiet and runs cool and I do plan on getting another! For $90 vs $225....no brainer,
as for your PSU, again I'm biased, but if you ever plan on going SLI with your GPU, you may want to step that up a bit. My 750W PC Power and Cooling has succesfully run 8800GTX in SLI (although Evga recomends 850W).

Other than that, your build looks great, but more importantly, enjoy it!!!

Nice Work!

Would stepping that up to the 750 suffice? I did a lot of research before I picked that one, everyone over at HARDOCP and on the Corsair forums (as well as the corsair PSU tool) suggested that specific unit, or the 750 :)

NCIX has an absolutely amazing price on the corsair 750W ($100 before MIR, $70 after!!!!!!) right now, and they actually had stock when I checked last night!!!
