Default RAID migration on Intel platform

My friend has the following:

Quote:
X3360 on a GA-P35-DS3R, looking for an upgrade to a i5-3550 with a motherboard that will allow in place upgrade of an existing raid5 array
So what exactly is the procedure to do this right?

Anything with an Intel RAID chipset will do. Simply plug-n-play

I've gone from LGA775 to LGA1366 to LGA2011 without ever needing to rebuild my RAID.

Sweet! I assume it doesn't care which port # the drives are plugged in as long as it's in the RAID ones?

Correct, all ports should support RAID though, unless it's a very cheap motherboard. Just make sure it's the Intel ports since I know most boards these days mix in a 3rd party controller to add additional ports.
