Upgrading from oc'ed i5-750, worth it yet?

Not worth it IMO.. performance difference from 560 448 to a 660ti doesn't justify the cost... the 448 should be well able to handle 1080 at max settings in 95% of games..

Also.. his monitor is 1680x1050...


If you really have an upgrade bug go out and buy a 24" ips.. or a 27" catleap or something... then you'll have a reason to upgrade..

Just updated my slightly outdated profile...

Gaming on a 24 Dell at 1920x1080 now...

My 560 can play most at high with no issues... just wondering where to go from here.

I uess from here, it's sell the 560-448ti and grab a 680... otherwise just enjoy what I have for now.

If you wanted to spend money now, I'd get a bigger GPU. The i5 is a quad core, so that should be fine in all games still. What games do you play?

If it was me, I'd consider how the GPU and MB are. CPU's are tanks.

If the GPU is pretty new like under 1.5yr, then maybe upgrade to 1155sli+CPU and pickup a 2nd hand 560

Which is more likely to fail these days, a 560 or a 1156 MB?????

i also got an i5-750 @3.8ghz and ive been looking to upgrading, am a heavy multi app user plus an eve-online player, witch means at any given time ill have 2-4 game clients open, 1-2 excel sheets, 5-10 browser tabs, plus a few other apps going at the same time and am hitting its limit :) been looking to get the 3770k just cant decide on either a sabertooth z77 or a z77 V pro from asus...

i already upgraded to a GTX 670, 16 gig of ram, but the cpu is frequently in the high 80-85% utilization on all 4 cores for prolonged time,

so it really depends on your need, if you're not pushing the cpu to its limit then upgrading might not yield a big difference

Agree with others. Given your resolution I would go for an aftermarket cooler, bump the oc up a few hundred MHz more and enjoy. If its not enought fps then sell the 560 and grab a 670. No need for a system overhaul IMO.
