Buying Intel 2700K off Craigslist . Any advice?
Hi guys,

I have been in contact with a guy on Craigslist that is looking to sell his sealed Intel 2700K that he won in a contest. He says he has all the information for warranty purpose in case something should go wrong. I thought I might throw this out to you guys for some sage advice on any particular questions to ask or what I should be looking for.
I already asked him why he was not using it and he said he already has a 2600K in his system and doesn't want the hassle of swapping out for minimal speed gain.

Any advice would be appreciated as I have to let him know by June 13.

There's very high chances are it came from the Intel Retail Edge program. You should be fine, but I doubt you will have any warranty.

As long as it's sealed brah.

Make sure its sealed so you know he didn't fry it doing some suicide overclocks or something. Secondly make sure you make yourself knowledgeable about the retail edge program etc.. I bought 2x 2700K's and then found out while getting the 2nd one that I way overpaid for first one! The 2nd guy actually did give me the reciept and I think he ended up paying $104 for the 2700K or something crazy like that.

I don't see how the purchase price has anything to do with the value. Basically a retail edge CPU is worth whatever that CPU without warranty is worth to you, even if the guy got it for free.
