My System Specs

Default

Well the Corsair H-100 did'nt do what I wanted it to do ,but my CPU is more at fault.4.8gigs is just this CPU sweet spot ,I can run it at 4.8g at only 1.275v and it stays very cool and dos'nt make much noise even set on high .But if I want to run my i7-3820 at five gigs and it be stablle then I have to really raise the core voltage for it to be stable.I have to run it at 1.475v I can boot up with a lower voltage but it is not a 100% stable. It just seems that this CPU is able to run at 4.8gigs at very low voltages and go beyond that ,then you really have to crank up the voltage and I am not going to run my cpu at nearly 1.5v just to gain 200Mhz.I would have been fine with the H-70 cooler if I knew what I know now.

Sometimes it's called the "luck of the draw" with cpu overclocking. You can have a top notch water cooler and still be beat by a high quality air cooler setup. I have a H100 also and I am pretty satisfied with its performance, quality, and noise. Some earlier batches of H100 had terrible noise issues; thank god I didn't have to deal with that! People just kept having to RMA their units and having the same problems that the 5 year warranty really didnt mean anything. There were 800+ post on that in the Corsair forum of people complaining about it.

Your 4.8 Ghz is actually pretty nice and I would still consider that one of the better overclocks
