Summer temps for i5-2500k @4.5GHz

I built my rig last fall, with my OC and 1.36V it hits about 60C in BF3, today its finally starting to warm up outside, and I'm thinking about scaling back my OC a bit, more for the sake of my gigabyte z68 MB than the i5, it has a silver arrow.

I know 60C is good for air and I don't expect more than 65C at peak of summer (I'll see) But what temps does everyone else run their SB i5/i7 at 24/7 with pretty big OC like mine?????

i'm just getting ready to order parts for an i5 2500k build.

what memory did you use on yours?

I used g skill eco's 1600 CL7 that use 1.5V, but i set to CL6 and run them at 1.59V, works fine on this rig and used them the same way with my x4 955 rig.

I've set my i5 to 3.8GHz @1.320V, now I'm going to see about using the offset method for OCing so that it will power right done when idling, any tips anyone???

What does using the C3/C6 power saving do, it says it powers down when idle, how does that affect an OC?????

I used to lower my 950 to 4.0 in the summer with my silver arrow, but the old 950 is wet now so she stays at 4.2. Anything under 70C with air, your laughing.

When I had my i7-920 and my gigabyte X58-UD5 I left it at 4.2gigs 1.425v and my memory DDR3-1600mhz 7-7-7-21-1T at 1.6v from day one and it still runs perfect .I had a Thermalright 120 ulta Exetreme and it kept my tempertures at 34c to 36c at idle and around 75c with a heavy load.But it never gave me any problems.I need to sell it so somebody can still get some good use out of it.At 4.2gigs running games it is only around 2% to 3% slower then my i7-3820 clocked at 4.2gigs.But my i7-3820 uses less power and runs cooler at higher speeds.I used to keep it at 1.3v at 4750gigs and load tempertures would run at 63c to 61c ,but really no use in keeping that fast.I keep it where my voltage is just 1.21v so I can run it at 4.5gigs and my load tempertures only hit 52c to 49c. I been wanting to run it at 5gig but I need water cooling for that .I have look at reviews after reviews I think I going to settle on a Corsair H-70 because I would need a new case for the H-100 to fit.I been looking at reviews and they have some crazy voltages ,one place has it set at 1.48v for 4625gigs and one site even has it at 1.624v with a Corsair H-60 ,but he does not show no tempertures.I do not believe with a Corsair H-60 and voltages at 1.624v ,the i7-3820 must be running in the 100c.Because when I set mine to run 5gigs at 1.365v it reaches tempertures in the upper 70c ,but I am just running a $35 CoolerMaster 212 EVO.I believe when I get my Corsair H-70 it should bring my load tempertures in reason.I must have a good bin chip because this thing will overclock like crazy.Do ya'll set your voltage or set it on auto.I would have thought the i5-2500K would run lower since it does not have hyperthreading and it has 4mb less of L3 cache.

yeah I'm trying to rest my MB, just in case. CPUs are pretty rock solid, probably the strongest built part. Anyway going fro.m 4.5 @1.335 to 3.8 @1.320 took my BF3 temps from about 59-60 to 53-54.

I turned up my 6950s idle fan speed too, its only 15C outside, but their temps seem higher too the last few days

On my MB I set 1 voltage for CPU and one other setting voltage related for CPU, then my RAM voltage for its OC, and 1 other voltage sort of RAM related

I don't touch none of my other CPU voltages,I just set the core voltage at a fixed set and leave the rest at default.My memory stays at 1.5v ,I have a 16Gb set of G.Skil Ripjaws X DDR3-1333 7-7-7-21-1t,so when I set the strap at 1.25x my memory went to 1666Mhz,but all I had to do was to change my timmings to 8-9-8-24-1T,my voltage stayed at i,5v.I ran test after test thinging DDR3 1333 7-7-7-21-1t would be faster but DDR3 1666 at 8-9-8-24-1t was the faster setting I even tried DDR2000 9-10-10-28-1T but my sweet spot is at 1666Mhz 8-9-8-24-1T.It gave me the fastest marks.G.Skill makes some good memory .my G.Skill DDR3 1333 7-7-7-21-1T scales very good,I just leave the voltage at 1.5v and just ajust the timmings to get the speed I want,but 2133Mhz is the highest it will go with very lose timmings 10-11-11-30-1t at 1.5v

My 2500k's @ 4.3ghz (99.5x43) right now, its heading into winter over these parts so ill scale up as i go, ive got an h60 not even running @ 100% (hdd scratch noise comes in when I dont run it off a PWM header) and im hitting max 57C @ 1.284v.

My room temp is ~22C atm.

Just a thaught, what if i put my pc up the the window and set the fans so i drew air in from outside, atleast at night i would get some pretty good temps, but would there be more dust outside or in?

more dust inside dust is human skin but what you have to worry about is moisture it will condense and cause you big problems

When it is cool outside, I open 2 windows within 6 feet of my computer, then have a box fan blowing in my case(don't use a side panel on my PC case) 64-66C load temps while folding with a stock GTX 480 are pretty damned good.
