I'm seeing pretty much all new graphics cards coming out with PCI-E 3.0 support to go along with the motherboards that started coming out late last year. Are these cards making full use of the bandwidth that is available with PCI-E 3.0?
Or,
If one were to say, drop in a 680gtx in a PCI-E 2.0, would there be serious bottleneck issues due to the lesser bandwidth of the slot?
Or,
It will be sometime before anything actually utilizes that much bandwidth?
I'm pretty sure it makes little to no difference running a 680 on 2.0 or 3.0. Sorry I don't have any links or benchmarks but I'm sure someone does here.
SKYMTL did a comparison with the 690 in this review. While there are minor differences, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference unless you were benchmarking the card.
