ASUS Maximus V GENE Z77 Review Comment Thread
The Maximus V Gene has everything gamers and overclockers could possibly want: a great BIOS, features galore and the possibility for multi card GPU configurations. All of this -and more- is packed into a svelte mATX configuration which packs enough of a punch that many expensive, full sized ATX boards have something afraid of.

First sentence: "Finally, the much anticipated Ivy Bridge and Cougar Point launch has come!" Should that be Panther Point?

Page 8 last sentence: "For iGPU use the board also has a HDMI port with a maximum output of 1080P" while the specs table on page 2 lists a maximum resolution of 1900x1200 through the HDMI connector.

I love the ASUS board , the are one of the few who actually puts all this effort into such a compact package like the Gene. EVGA did for a while but nothing really as of late, and no one else comes close.

It really is a perfect solution for those who want a compact powerful board.

Great Review Eldonko!

Good read, does mPCIe Combo Card connect to z77 or 3rd party controller?

I think an intel 310 would play VERY nice as a primary boot drive on mStata.

Eldonko May 7, 2012 09:33 AM

Connects to chipset I think because I didnt see a controller chip.

That bothers me, I haven't been able to find any documentation on it. This or any of the other reviews have not said.
