Here you go, it has its own lane.

"It has a dedicated lane attached and allows for simultaneous use of a mPCIE module and mSATA module."

I would have said he's a donkey among asses, but yeah, Eldonko is always willing to listen to reasonable questions and dig up the answers. :thumb:

woah woah woah. Hold on.

Since when did Virtu actually become useful? I thought it was always one of those "great in theory, horrible in execution" kind of things.

Eldonko May 8, 2012 09:23 AM

Became useful with Z77. Z68, not so much..

Results vary widely by GPU and by game so once my GPU upgrade arrives Im going to provide some more tests with a higher end card. The only thing Ive found that doesnt work thus far is FC2.

So is Virtu MVP sort of like SLI or Crossfire, except with 2 different video processors (discrete gpu & cpu graphics)?

Eldonko May 10, 2012 08:40 AM

That is oversimplifying things but to some extent that is true. There are also modifiers that can dramatically increase performance on top of adding iGPU power to the GPU. Exactly how it all works is found in this document.

Nice , thanks for that Eldonko.
I'm really sold on getting something like this. Its so compact but so feature rich.

i'm finding it strange that so many high end boards don't have firewire.

there's an awful lot of expensive recording gear that relies on it. and it can't be THAT expensive to add it to a motherboard.
